01 The story, in three paragraphs

Why everyone keeps coming back.

Nestled in the bustling spot of Seksyen 1, Petaling Jaya, Chang Noi Thai Stall No. 19 offers an authentic taste of home-cooked Thai cuisine that feels both comforting and exhilarating. This humble Thai restaurant specializes in classic, street-style dishes that tantalize the palate with the five iconic Thai flavors—salty, sweet, sour, bitter, and spicy—all masterfully woven into every bite.

From the moment you step up to the stall, you’re greeted by the warm, unpretentious charm of the auntie behind the counter, who not only cooks but serves with genuine care. The intimate, street-stall atmosphere strips away all pretense and invites you to focus fully on the food, making each meal feel like a shared secret between old friends.

Among the star dishes, the belachan fried pucuk paku stands out as a delicious revelation, bursting with smoky, umami-rich flavors that linger satisfyingly long. The stewed pork knuckle is indulgently rich, offering tender meat interspersed with just the right amount of fat to melt in your mouth, while the Thai-style omelet delivers a fluffy, savory delight that balances the more intense dishes beautifully.

Thai salads like Yum Woon Sen bring a refreshing tang, complementing the bold and fragrant Tom Yum Goong, which is a classic favorite here, perfumed with lemongrass and chili heat. The “Mun Yee Mee” fried noodles is a standout for fans of quick, flavorful comfort food, proving that homemade doesn’t mean sacrificing quality or taste to mass-market chains.

Customer experiences further affirm the authenticity and warmth of the experience. Yuet Chen Phang praises the “out of this world” belachan fried pucuk paku and the genuine hospitality shown when the owner wisely advised portion control, putting care over profit. Steven Low appreciates the quality and speed of service for a quick dinner fix, while Richard Lin finds comfort in the friendly atmosphere and satisfying pork trotter with braised egg. Most notably, K Kam highlights the fresh ingredients and highly recommends several dishes that truly represent Thai cuisine’s complexity and richness.

Chang Noi Thai Stall No. 19 is more than just a place to eat—it’s a culinary haven where traditional Thai flavors come alive in every lovingly prepared dish. If you crave honest, soulful food that strikes a perfect balance between street food flair and home-cooked satisfaction, this stall is a Petaling Jaya gem you’ll want to visit again and again.

First time trying the food here... The star dish is the belachan fried pucuk paku.... Out of this world! Enjoyed the stewed pork knuckle too, although it was a little fatty. Wanted to try the slow cooked kampung chicken but the boss lady insisted that there would be too much food for both of us ( shows that she is just not interested in profits alone). Will definitely visit again. .home cooked food at its best and reasonably priced. The adjacent stall serving porridge is worth a try.

Not a bad place for a quick dinner fix The lady really knows her food. There is dishes and single plated type. I tried the "Mun Yee Mee" fried yee mee and was nice, standards can compete with the chain restaurants

Chang Noi Thai Stall 19, this the best well-known home-cook style Chinese-Thai cuisines, that as I knew, you can't find any others place at PJ areas. Food here every thing fresh. Once you'd tried, guaranteed come back again. Recommended dishes must try: Thai-Style Omelet , SomTam, Yum Woon Sen Thai Salad and of course Thai Tomyum Goong. Here you can tastes 5 main flavours in Thai cuisine: salty, sour, sweet, spicy and creamy. The lady Chef always smiles and welcome you, although she is so busy. Good food takes time, please allow at least 30 minutes for your order ready. Prepared to sweat.

Chang Noi is everything you can ask for in a restaurant. I specifically ordered the Pad Thai Noodles and not only is it appealing to the eyes, it's heaven to the taste buds. My brother had the Pad Kra Pao Rice and it's just as delightful. The staffs are extremely humble, generous and they exceed the definition of "good customer service" Come here if you want an excellent dining experience.
